As I was on my way home from a newborn session I came up on hwy 421. I go to look to my right for traffic I look and a dog is lying on the road still breathing and had just been hit. My heart breaks as I turn on my flashers and get out along with a few kids that had been swimming at the pond that had just seen it as well! I then realize he is in no shape going to make it as we all talk the best bet is to put him to sleep as he is not going to make it at all and we couldn't see him suffer. 1 thing if you hit a dog (and yes I know for a fact they knew because he was a large dog mastiff mix it looked to be) STOP to see if that animal is okay. It may break you to see but that dog deserves the stop!! Dont sit there and allow or chance another person hitting him or letting him suffer for longer than he needs to!! As I cry on my way home because their was nothing for me to do besides watch this animal suffer but mostly mad because who is that selfish to just let a dog sit on a hwy after you hit him and him still be suffering in pain but yet you just keep driving!!
